I'm very grateful for my life and the many wonderful (and even a few not-so-wonderful, haha) life-experiences that have come my way. The Lord has truly been good to me. Even though my wife abruptly departed in 2010 (I'm actually thinking she started the process possibly as early as 2001), I was able to experience being a husband, I interact almost daily with my 6 children, I'm a member of a godly, bible-based Anabaptist church, I have decent health -- and the list goes on and on!!
Yes, I have a great life, but I'm well aware that this life is fleeting. James 4:14 makes this point very clear: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Let's enjoy all the Lord gives to us, but may we always remember that we are only passing through. The poem "Only One Life, T'will Soon Be Past" comes to mind.
There's much joy in my heart, but I also have a measure of sadness because not everyone is going to be welcomed into Heaven. I will continue to pray and fast for lost souls to be convicted of sin, to have godly sorrow, and to repent by turning away from all that displeases our Lord Jesus.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
